KEDC 10th Annual General Meeting

Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation has held its 10th Annual General Meeting at Hotel Gander on September 14th, marking a decade of economic development in Zone 14.

Stakeholders that were in attendance ranged from board members, staff, stakeholders from each sub zone, to representatives from funding agents Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Service Canada, and Innovation, Trade and Rural Development.

Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation’s board elected its new executive for the upcoming year, which was announced at the end of the evening. The executive include two new faces to executive positions in the form of newly elected President Roger Hewitt who holds the Disabilities seat on the board and Vice-President Pat Martin who represents the Existing Development Groups in the zone and is from the Lewisporte and Area Development Association. Doug Churchill returned as Treasure and represents the Kittiwake Coast Tourism Association, as well as Audrey Whiteway who represents Subzone 4 remains as Secretary. Winston Jennings remains on the executive as Past President.

“I am looking forward to continuing the work set out by the board and in making progress in economic development in the zone”, Roger Hewitt states.

The guest speaker of the evening was Ms. Rita Malone, Assistant Deputy Minister with the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. Ms. Malone was very positive in her comments of the work currently being completed by the Regional Economic Development Boards and how government will continue to support them in the future.

Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation is the Regional Economic Development Board serving the Kittiwake Coast which extends west to Lewisporte, north to Fogo, and east to Charlottetown.
