Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) has launched a database of local food suppliers in the central region as part of phase 3 of a Buy Local Campaign.

The Buy Local Suppliers Database provides the necessary information in order to purchase a variety of local products available right here in the Kittiwake region. Just remember, buying local will keep hard earned money in this area, support the local economy, and provide customers with the freshest, best-tasting food.

KEDC has contacted and complied product lists, contact information, delivery information and any special instructions from various suppliers of baked goods, berries, beverages, seafood, meat and poultry, and produce. KEDC is in the process of distributing this database to local dining establishments, grocery retailers, convenience stores and any other businesses that may benefit from the purchase of local products.

“I am very excited to be continuing with the Buy Local Campaign for 2009. As part of the natural progression of the campaign, we felt that it was important to highlight a wider range of local products including baked goods, berries, beverages, seafood, meat and poultry, and produce, as well as compile this information in an easy to use database of contacts. The Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation has worked diligently to profile local suppliers of various products and is in the process of linking them with retail establishments, grocery outlets, and restaurants. We hope that this project will result in a win-win; for the producers, store owners, restaurant owners, consumers, tourists, and of course the economy”, expresses Philip Patey, Chair of KEDC’s Natural Resources Committee.

KEDC has received tremendous support and feedback from communities about the Buy Local Campaign. For more information, please click the link below or contact the Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation office at (709) 256-2595.
