The fishing heritage of these islands is as deep as the ocean. Many of its communities can trace their history back hundreds of years to when Europeans first began populating North America. For many, the future rests upon the development of the tourism sector, for which their colorful past and many historical buildings seem ideally suited. Both islands have seen the emergence of fishing initiatives over the last number of years.
