This region is home to two of the largest municipalities within the region, Gambo and New-Wes-Valley. This region is characterized by its rugged coastline and its rich fishing heritage and communities. Fish harvesting and processing remain fundamental to the economy of the region, but it has shown much potential for tourism growth over the last decade. New-Wes-Valley is also a small service centre for the region with a number of small and medium sized enterprises, a large fish processing company and a local hospital and long term care facility.
